Iran’s Air Defenses Intercepted the Majority of Israeli Missiles

ALWAGHT- Iran’s General Staff of the Armed Forces reports that the country's air defense units intercepted numerous Israeli missiles and prevented its military aircraft from entering Iranian airspace.

On Saturday, it was reported that Israeli warplanes violated international law in the early hours of October 26, 2024. The Israeli aircraft reportedly operated from areas accessible to the US military in Iraq, located 100 kilometers from the Iranian border, and launched long-range air-to-air missiles targeting border radars in Ilam and Khuzestan provinces, as well as additional systems near Tehran.

The statement indicated that the missiles used in the attack were equipped with lightweight warheads, approximately one-fifth the weight of Iranian ballistic missiles. Despite the assault, the damage to Iranian radar systems was limited, and repairs were quickly undertaken or are in progress.

The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces confirmed that a significant number of the Israeli missiles were intercepted during the incident, successfully preventing the enemy aircraft from penetrating Iranian airspace. Iran asserted its right to respond “lawfully and legitimately” to this act of aggression while stressing the importance of establishing a sustainable ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon to safeguard innocent civilians.

Furthermore, Iran warned the United States about its role in supporting Israeli actions that threaten regional peace and security, urging it to restrain what it described as an illegitimate regime. Iran’s Air Defense Base reported that the country's air defenses successfully countered the Israeli aggression.
