ALWAGHT- Hezbollah, the Lebanese resistance group, reported a series of retaliatory strikes against Israeli military forces, targeting tanks, drones, and bases amid escalating clashes along the Lebanon-Israel border.
On Tuesday, Hezbollah reported that its fighters had destroyed six Israeli Merkava tanks in various locations in southern Lebanon using guided missiles.
“In solidarity with our steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their courageous resistance, as well as in defense of Lebanon and its citizens, our fighters targeted a Merkava tank with a guided missile at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, 22-10-2024, while Israeli soldiers were advancing towards it on the outskirts of Taybeh. This attack resulted in confirmed casualties, including fatalities and injuries,” the resistance group stated.
Hezbollah also claimed responsibility for hitting another Merkava tank near Misgav Am, resulting in the tank's destruction and casualties among its crew. Additionally, the group announced that it had shot down a Hermes 450 drone over the Lebanese town of Jebchit.
Hezbollah fighters launched rocket barrages against Israeli forces stationed at Aita Al-Shaab and Khallet Al-Asaker, as well as in the settlements of Kiryat Shmona and Manara within the occupied territories. “At 10:00 PM on Tuesday, 22-10-2024, our fighters targeted the movements of Israeli soldiers in Malikiyah with a rocket barrage,” the statement continued. The group also deployed suicide drones targeting Israel’s Eliakim base, located south of Haifa, deep in the occupied territories.
The ongoing conflict has escalated since Israel's military operations in Gaza began in October 2023, leading to significant casualties in Lebanon, including 2,483 civilian deaths and 11,628 injuries due to Israeli strikes. Hezbollah has pledged to continue its retaliatory operations, targeting strategic sites within the occupied Palestinian territories in response to Israeli aggression.
