Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon result in at least 274 deaths and 1,024 injuries

ALWAGHT- Israeli warplanes have carried out widespread airstrikes on towns and villages throughout Lebanon, resulting in the deaths of at least 274 people.

Lebanon’s health minister, Firass Abiad, reported on Monday that Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 274 people, including 21 children, 39 women, and two medics. Additionally, over 1,000 people were injured in the attacks, which hit multiple regions. Abiad stated that hospitals are prioritizing the care of the injured, and first-aid centers are being converted to treat the wounded, while plans are in place to continue treating displaced individuals with chronic health conditions.

Israeli airstrikes targeted numerous locations across Lebanon, including towns and villages along the southern border and the eastern Bekaa Valley, affecting over 40 areas. In response, Lebanese community leaders have expressed solidarity with the victims, and various local leaders have called for support for the affected regions.

Notable casualties include Sheikh Hussein Al-Nader, a local leader in the Marjayoun-Hassbaya region, who was killed in an Israeli strike on his home. Several others were injured in different strikes, and a family of four was killed in the Bekaa region. Israeli sources claimed that the airstrikes reached deep into Lebanese territory, with Israeli military officials stating that the attacks will continue.

In retaliation, Hezbollah has launched strikes against Israeli targets, showing solidarity with Gaza. On Sunday, Hezbollah carried out its longest-reaching attack since the start of the conflict, targeting Israeli military installations near Haifa. The strike was described as a response to previous Israeli actions, which caused significant casualties in Lebanon.

Hezbollah’s Deputy Secretary General, Sheikh Naim Qassem, declared that the group is entering a "new phase" in its conflict with Israel. He emphasized that Hezbollah is prepared for all military possibilities and will not be deterred by threats, as he spoke at the funeral of senior Hezbollah commander Ibrahim Aqil, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut.
