ALWAGHT- The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry criticized Australia, New Zealand, and Canada for their joint statement, accusing them of holding double standards regarding Israel's April attack on Iran's diplomatic mission in Syria and Iran's legitimate retaliatory response.
In a statement on Monday, Nasser Kanaani sharply criticized the hypocritical stance of Australia, New Zealand, and Canada regarding the Israeli regime's air attack on Iran's diplomatic headquarters and their condemnation of Iran's exercise of its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
Kanaani remarked that the duplicitous approach taken by these countries, alongside their selective application of international norms and alignment with the apartheid Zionist regime, has not only failed to de-escalate tensions in the region but has also emboldened the aggressor, exacerbating the Zionist regime's brutal actions and war crimes in Gaza, according to the Foreign Ministry’s website.
He further asserted that the unfounded accusations made by the prime ministers of Australia, New Zealand, and Canada are hypocritical, especially given that these countries have supplied weapons to the Zionist regime, thereby becoming complicit in its war crimes against the oppressed Palestinian people.
Kanaani emphasized that by supporting the Zionist regime's occupation of Palestine and disregarding the historical and legitimate right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, these countries have compromised regional stability and security.
