Russia Concerned About Potential Israeli Aggression Against Lebanon

ALWAGHT- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov voiced Moscow’s concern over the intensifying Israeli attacks on Gaza and the potential for the conflict to extend into Lebanon.

During a meeting with Iranian Caretaker Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri on the sidelines of a UN Security Council session in New York on Tuesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed Moscow's concern about the potential escalation of conflict and widespread Israeli aggression, including against Lebanon.

Lavrov emphasized Russia's intention to prevent such events and highlighted the responsibility of all parties involved.

He also congratulated Iran on its successful presidential elections and expressed satisfaction with the progress in Moscow-Tehran cooperation.

Lavrov reiterated Russia's commitment to advancing the issues on the bilateral agenda with Iran.

Bagheri, in turn, praised the progress in Iran-Russia cooperation, noting that bilateral relations are on the right track. He expressed hope that the legal formalities for finalizing key documents in the bilateral cooperation agenda, especially the comprehensive strategic partnership treaty and cooperation agreements, including the utilization of Iran's transit capacity, would be completed soon, according to the Foreign Ministry's website.

Addressing regional developments and the situation in Gaza, Baqeri stressed the urgent need to halt the ongoing crimes and attacks by the Zionist regime against the oppressed people of Gaza.

He cautioned that neglecting this issue and allowing the escalation of Israeli attacks would lead to further tensions and crises in the region.

Bagheri also praised Russia's efforts to highlight the issue of Palestine and the Israeli crimes in the Gaza conflict during its rotating presidency of the UN Security Council.
