Iran and Saudi Arabia condemn Israeli atrocities in Rafah

ALWAGHT- High-ranking Iranian and Saudi diplomats held talks regarding the recent developments in the region and the Gaza crisis, denouncing the Zionist regime's atrocious acts against the Palestinian people in Rafah.

During a phone call on Friday, Iran's Caretaker Foreign Minister Ali Baqeri and Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud discussed various bilateral and regional matters, including the dire situation in the Gaza Strip.

Expressing condemnation for the Israeli regime’s actions in Gaza, Baqeri stated that Palestinian refugees have faced tragic and catastrophic events in the Rafah area in recent days, resulting in the loss of innocent, defenseless, and oppressed women and children.

Highlighting the barbarity of these attacks, the Iranian diplomat remarked that they further tarnish the already disgraceful track record of the evil and brutal Zionist regime. Baqeri also pointed out that Israel has encountered unprecedented setbacks in various international arenas, including political, legal, and public diplomacy.

According to the Foreign Ministry’s website, Baqeri remarked that the Israeli regime seeks to compensate for its losses by perpetrating crimes in Rafah.

He emphasized that providing support to the oppressed Palestinian people in Gaza, particularly in Rafah, is a religious and Islamic obligation for all Muslims. Baqeri stressed the necessity for Islamic and regional nations to collaborate in implementing practical measures in this regard.

In response, the Saudi foreign minister condemned the tragic events unfolding in Gaza and Rafah, denouncing Israel's unrestricted criminal actions.

The UN has reported that daily life in certain areas of southern Gaza has become “apocalyptic” following Israel's incursion into Rafah.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel’s onslaught on Gaza has resulted in the deaths of at least 36,284 Palestinians and left 82,057 others wounded.
