Alwaght- The Israeli regime says it is planning to relocate Palestinians from Gaza's south to its center under what it called "humanitarian islands."
These islands are meant to transfer the civilians to safety as the Israeli regime is mulling an all-out invasion of Rafah, the last shelter of 1.5 million displaced Gazans.
“We need to make sure that 1.4 million people or at least a significant amount of the 1.4 million will move. Where? To humanitarian islands that we will create with the international community,” Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said at a press briefing.
He claimed that Tel Aviv will provide the over 1 million people with food.
The plan was unveiled a few hours after Israeli warplanes struck an UNRWA aid warehouse in Gaza and two days after the UN warned the Israeli regime is "intentionally" starving Gaza people.
Civilians had previously fled to Rafah, Gaza’s southernmost city, after Israeli bombardments leveled their neighborhoods in other parts of the enclave.
The Israeli plan raises many questions as Tel Aviv has already bombed so-called safety areas in which it directed civilians to gather in large numbers after fleeing the bombardment in the north.
Hagari did not specify when evacuations will begin or how much time will be given before ground forces start pounding Rafah. He said the timing will be coordinated with neighboring Egypt, which has demanded that Gaza refugees not be driven into its territory.
The Israeli plan comes as the US dispatched a naval mission to establish a seaport on Gaza coast for access to the besieged enclave.
Skeptisists of the US plan say that it was easier for Washington to press allied Israeli government to allow aid distribution through land than building a pier. Thousands of tons of food and medical supplies are awaiting behind the border on the Egyptian side, but Israeli regime threatens to bomb them should they enter from Rafah border crossing.
The talks for ceasefire have failed so far as the Israeli government insists on release of prisoners held by Hamas without lifting the blockade, ending the war, and withdrawing from Gaza.
