Alwaght- Iran’s Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian has met the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus on Friday evening.
Syria is the third station of the FM’s regional tour.
During the meeting, the top Iranian diplomat stressed the importance of intensifying international efforts to stop the crimes committed by the Israeli regime against the Palestinian people.
Amir-Abdollahian arrived in Damascus as he discussed in Baghdad and Beirut support for the resistance forces fighting the Israeli occupation.
In Lebanon, Amir-Abdollahian warned that continuation of the Israeli bombardment of Gaza civilians could open a new front against the Israeli regime.
For his part, President al-Assad affirmed, during his reception of Amir Abdullahian and the delegation accompanying him, that Syria stands with the Palestinian people and their legitimate struggle against the Israeli occupation to obtain their rights that have been stolen for more than seven decades.
He stressed the danger and bloodiness of what the occupation army is doing in bombing civilians in the Gaza Strip and displacing them, and the necessity of uniting.
The Syrian leader maintained that the crimes and massacres committed today by the Israelis against the Palestinians are an attempt by Tel Aviv to pressure the Palestinian people to give up their legitimate rights.
Al-Assad held that the continued denial of the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state and live in dignity and freedom is the main reason for what the Palestinian territories are witnessing today, and that the region will not witness stability if the Israeli regime and Western countries continue to deny the Palestinians their rights.
