Alwaght: Last night, Israeli occupation forces broke into the Bab al-Rahma Prayer Hall, located within the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied Al-Quds (Jerusalem), causing extensive damage, Palestinian official news agency WAFA cited witnesses.
The witnesses reported that Israeli occupation forces stormed the prayer hall, conducted searches, and vandalized parts of its contents while confiscating other items.
For years, Israeli occupation authorities have been targeting the Bab al-Rahma Prayer Hall in an attempt to take control over it and convert it into a Jewish synagogue. This is part of the broader agenda by the Israeli occupation to impose a Jewish character over the Al-Aqsa Mosque, considered the third holiest site for Muslims after Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia.
The Al-Aqsa Mosque is a place of deep religious significance for Muslims worldwide and is situated in the heart of Jerusalem, which has been occupied and illegally annexed by Israel since 1967.
The Bab al-Rahma Prayer Hall, like the rest of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, is administered by the Islamic Waqf, which is responsible for the management and maintenance of Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem.
The ongoing attempts by Israeli occupation authorities to impose control over the holy site raise concerns about the protection of religious freedom and the preservation of cultural heritage.
