Saudi Warplanes Strike Yemen’s Densely-Populated Capital, Sana’a

Saudi Warplanes Strike Yemen’s Densely-Populated Capital, Sana’a

Alwaght- The Saudi regime has carried out several airstrikes against Yemen's densely-populated capital, claiming to seek to hit "military targets" there.

The attacks targeted Sana'a's northern neighborhoods on Tuesday, Reuters reported, citing the kingdom's state television.

The Saudi Arabia-led coalition that has been invading Yemen, said its assaults were targeting "legitimate" targets in the city, sufficed to "ask civilians not to gather around or approach potential targets" before strafing the areas, the news agency said.

"Violent explosions" rocked the targeted neighborhoods following the coalition raids, residents told Reuters.

The coalition's history of such indiscriminate attacks dates back as far as March 2015, when it launched the war against the Arab world's already poorest nation.

The invasion has been seeking to restore power in Yemen to Riyadh's favorite officials. The war has stopped short of the target, while killing tens of thousands of Yemenis through incessant attacks and a concomitant siege.

On Monday, Yemen's al-Masirah television network reported more than 320 cases of violation of a ceasefire that the coalition is supposed to be observing in the al-Hudaydah Province, which contains Yemen's lifeline port city of al-Hudaydah.

Yemen's allied defense forces that comprise the country's army and Popular Committees have been returning the raids with cross-border counterattacks against sensitive Saudi targets.

On Saturday, they said they had flown as many as 14 drones against several targets inside the kingdom, including oil facilities in the port city of Jeddah.

The combined forces have vowed not to lay down their arms until the country's complete liberation. They have made significant advances in the west-central province of Ma'rib against Saudi-led militants, who are increasingly losing their grip on vital positions on the strategic front.
