Alwaght- Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri has returned Beirut after his supposed two-week detention in Saudi Arabia and announcing resignation from there.

Hariri left without addressing journalists gathered at the airport. He then visited the grave of his father, Rafiq Hariri, Lebanon's former prime minister who was assassinated in a 2005 bombing. Hariri later headed to his home in central Beirut.

Lebanese President Michel Aoun, however, has called Hariri a Saudi hostage and refused to accept his resignation unless he returns to Lebanon.
Hariri was allowed to leave Riyadh after French President's mediation and arrived in Paris on Saturday, accompanied by his wife, Lara al-Azm. However, two of his children were remained in Saudi capital triggering fears that they may have been hold hostage by Saudi regime to pressure Lebanese PM not to reveal real reason behind his 15-day stop in Saudi Arabia and his suspicious resignation.
He headed home on Tuesday with short stops in Cairo, where he met Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, and Cyprus, where he spoke with President Nicos Anastasiades.
During a joint press conference with Sisi, Hariri thanked Egyptian President for his support, noting that he would not elaborate on his resignation until he reached Beirut.
He added that both parties had discussed the need for "distancing oneself from regional policies."
"Tomorrow we have independence day in Lebanon, God willing it will be for all Lebanese. Like I said in Paris, my political position will be (clarified) in Lebanon," he added.
