Three Killed in US School Shooting Incident

Monday 10 April 2017
Three Killed in US School Shooting Incident

Alwaght- Three people including an eight year old kid have been shot dead in a United States elementary school classroom after shooting that also left two students hospitalized.

The Monday incident is an apparent murder-suicide inside an elementary school classroom in San Bernardino, in which two teachers and an eight year old student were shot dead and two students injured, police and school officials said.

The students were airlifted to local hospital and their conditions are unknown, said San Bernardino police Lt. Vicki Cervantes.

One of the adults involved in the shooting was a teacher, according to San Bernardino Unified School District spokeswoman Maria Garcia.

“We believe this to be a murder-suicide,” San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan tweeted. “Happened in a class room. Two students have been transported to the hospital.”

The gunfire occurred just after 10:30 a.m. at North Park Elementary School, 5378 N. H Street.

There were 62 slayings in San Bernardino in 2016 — a 41% increase from the year before. It was the deadliest year in the city since 1995.

The violence is an open wound on a city trying to recover from a prolonged bankruptcy and the deadly 2015 attack. As of April 9th, 2017, this year there have been a total of 4,004 gun deaths across the US with 7,673 gun injuries, 556 unintentional shootings and 90 mass shootings.

Furthermore, there was a total of 3,787 children & teenagers shot in America in all of 2016. The US gun murder rate is about 20 times the average for all other countries in the world and the situation is getting worse by the day.
