Alwaght- Russian and Chinese armies are currently engaged in military drills as both countries feel threatened by increased US provocations around their borders.
According to Russia's Sputnik News, the exercises, which started on Thursday and are to last until Saturday, enlisted staff members of the country’s respective missile defense command centers.
The Russian Defense Ministry said the drills majorly sought “to train cooperation of Russian and Chinese air defense and anti-missile groups, aimed at protecting their territories from accidental or provocative strikes by ballistic and guided missiles."
They are to be followed by a bilateral meeting where the countries’ military officials would address the potential of increased anti-missile cooperation.
Both China and Russia have over the recent past raised concerns over the United States' increased military provocations around their borders.
Moscow says US-led NATO military is drumming up an anti-Russian hysteria in Europe to justify increased defense spending.
Following the collapse of the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact, NATO continued it swift expansion towards Russia's borders, swallowing one by one the former allies and partners of the dismantled Soviet bloc.
Elsewhere, US naval forces have been intruding into Chinese waters near the Nansha Islands without the permission of the Chinese government.
Such acts, carried out in the name of either "routine patrols" or "freedom of navigation," are considered by Beijing as nothing but blatant provocations against China's maritime security interests.
China says such dangerous and irresponsible activities also significantly increase the risk of military misjudgment in the region.
