ALWAGHT- At least 400 terrorists have been killed in clashes with the Syrian army following coordinated attacks on government-held areas in Aleppo and Idlib since November 27.
Terrorist groups linked to Jabhat al-Nusra launched coordinated attacks on Syrian government-held areas in Aleppo and Idlib on November 27, according to Oleg Ignasyuk, deputy head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Syria.
“The Syrian Arab Army, supported by the Russian Aerospace Forces, is engaged in intense combat,” Ignasyuk stated on Thursday, confirming that at least 400 militants have been killed during the clashes.
Militants reportedly fired on government troops 12 times in Idlib and once in Aleppo. In the past 24 hours, Syrian and Russian forces destroyed five terrorist headquarters and seven weapons depots in these provinces, according to the Syrian Army's General Command.
Airstrikes and artillery targeted militant positions and supply routes, inflicting heavy losses. The Syrian Defense Ministry confirmed battles with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, whose attacks violated the region’s de-escalation agreement.
HTS militants recently overran several government areas in northern Syria, killing dozens of soldiers. However, the Syrian army countered with preemptive strikes that thwarted large-scale operations in Aleppo Province.
Following the clashes, Western-backed media launched a campaign to discredit Syria's counterterrorism operations, claiming withdrawals from Hama’s countryside. The Syrian military dismissed these reports, calling them part of a "media war" against Damascus.
