ALWAGHT- Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, stated that he is speaking on behalf of the resilient yet oppressed people of Lebanon during these difficult times.
In his address at the 149th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Geneva, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Iran’s Parliament Speaker, emphasized the ongoing struggle of the Lebanese people, who remain on high alert for potential airstrikes from US-made warplanes. Despite the constant threat, he commended their resilience and determination to confront and defeat what he referred to as the "greatest enemy of humanity."
Qalibaf pointed to the assassination of Hezbollah’s Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah by Israel, which the Israeli regime viewed as a victory over the Resistance. However, he explained that the situation on the battlefield and prolonged resistance efforts have demonstrated that Hezbollah remains strong and continues to receive the unwavering support of the Lebanese people.
He strongly condemned Israel for targeting civilians, accusing the regime of grossly violating international law. He highlighted that the world is witnessing these actions, yet no significant intervention has been made to stop the violence.
Qalibaf called for immediate and practical efforts to help the displaced Lebanese and to implement a sustainable ceasefire. He reiterated Iran’s support for any ceasefire agreement made by the Lebanese government, parliament, and the Resistance front, which aims to halt the inhumane acts of the Israeli regime.
Additionally, Qalibaf noted that the IPU Assembly’s focus is on using science, technology, and innovation to build a peaceful and sustainable future. However, he criticized Israel for misusing these advancements in its ongoing war efforts, leading to mass civilian casualties and what he described as state terrorism.
