Russia shoots down numerous Ukrainian drones overnight: Defense Ministry

ALWAGHT- The Defense Ministry reports that Russia has destroyed multiple Ukrainian drones flying over its airspace overnight.

On Sunday, the Defense Ministry reported that its air defense systems had shot down 35 UAVs flying over the Russian regions of Kursk, Voronezh, Belgorod, Bryansk, and Oryol.

"During the past night, attempts by the Kiev regime to carry out terrorist attacks using fixed-wing UAVs and Tochka-U tactical missiles against targets within Russian territory were foiled," the Defense Ministry stated.

The ministry added that Russian air defense systems destroyed 14 Ukrainian drones over Kursk, 16 over Voronezh, 3 over Belgorod, and one each over the Bryansk and Oryol regions.

On Tuesday, Ukrainian forces launched a surprise invasion into Russian territory, marking Kiev’s most significant attack on Russian soil since the Ukraine war began in February 2022.

During the assault, Ukrainian troops crossed the border into Russia and advanced into the Kursk Region, capturing several villages. However, their push deeper into Russian territory was stopped by Russian armed forces.

Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the US-backed Ukrainian action as a "large-scale provocation."

Since February 2022, Western nations have supplied Ukraine with weapons and ammunition to bolster Kiev's fight against Russia.
