Live updates on Israel’s Gaza conflict: Heightened diplomatic efforts focused on achieving a ceasefire

ALWAGHT- A delegation representing Hamas has arrived in Egypt for crucial negotiations regarding a ceasefire, as indicated by statements from the movement's spokesperson, Osama Hamdan, who mentioned "some progress" has been achieved.

Additionally, a Qatari delegation is heading to Cairo as diplomatic endeavors intensify to prevent Israel from proceeding with its offensive in Rafah, which serves as the final sanctuary for 1.5 million Palestinians.

According to Israeli newspaper Haaretz, an Israeli official has expressed Israel's resolution to launch an invasion of Rafah.

The UN World Food Programme chief has declared a state of "full-blown famine" in northern Gaza, with thousands of Palestinians suffering from starvation due to Israel's restriction on humanitarian aid flow into the region.

Since October 7, Israeli attacks on Gaza have resulted in at least 34,654 Palestinian fatalities and 77,908 injuries. In contrast, Hamas's October 7 attacks in Israel have claimed 1,139 lives, with several individuals still held captive.
