ALWAGHT- Iran's Naval Forces are providing escort to the nation's vessels in regions where adversaries are present, ensuring the protection of maritime trade and economic security, stated Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani.
Speaking at the Cultural and Artistic Festival of the National Persian Gulf Day on Monday, Rear Admiral Irani informed reporters that the Persian Gulf is now recognized as the most secure maritime area globally. He mentioned that their naval operations primarily focus on escorting ships in regions like the Gulf of Aden and the Atlantic Ocean.
Irani stressed the significance of the Persian Gulf as a symbol of Iranian power, underscoring the Naval Force's commitment to safeguarding Iranian vessels in areas where adversaries of the Islamic Republic are present. This ensures the safety of sailors and merchants, facilitating the fulfillment of the country's economic requirements.
Reflecting on past achievements, Irani noted that during the Iran-Iraq war from 1980 to 1988, the Iranian Navy swiftly established dominance in the Persian Gulf within a span of fewer than 67 days. This disrupted the economic operations of the Iraqi Baathist enemy in the region.
Iran's Navy Commander commended Iran's military capabilities and highlighted various victories achieved by the country's armed forces. He specifically mentioned ongoing successes since the Sacred Defense era (Iran-Iraq war), citing the recent Operation True Promise. In this operation, the IRGC Aerospace Force launched a series of cruise and ballistic missiles, along with drones, targeting military sites in the Israeli-occupied territories. This action was in response to an Israeli airstrike on April 1st, which resulted in the martyrdom of seven Iranian military commanders and advisers in Syria.
