Raisi is committed to elevating trade relations with Pakistan to reach $10 billion

ALWAGHT- Iran’s President expressed that the current state of trade and economic relations between the two countries is inadequate. However, the two nations have resolved to elevate these trade relations to $10 billion in the initial phase.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, Iran’s President, expressed his gratitude today during a press conference with the Prime Minister of Pakistan in Islamabad. He thanked the Prime Minister and the Pakistani government for hosting the delegation. Raisi extended his greetings and respect to the Pakistani people from the platform of Islamabad, emphasizing their goodness and religious devotion.

He also conveyed greetings to Pakistani families across the country on behalf of the wise leadership of the Islamic Revolution and the great Iranian nation.

Raisi expressed pride in the Pakistani people's steadfast defense of Islam, Islamic values, and their support for the oppressed Palestinians and Gaza. He acknowledged their advocacy for justice and the freedom of Al-Quds, evident in the streets of various Pakistani cities.

Furthermore, Raisi addressed potential concerns about cooperation between Iran and Pakistan, stating that such concerns are insignificant. He emphasized the significance of continued cooperation between the two countries and governments, representing the interests of both Iranians and Pakistanis. Raisi affirmed their determination to elevate relations between the two countries to new heights.

Ayatollah Raisi, discussing the state of trade relations between Iran and Pakistan, declared: "While acknowledging that the current level of trade and economic ties between our nations falls short, we have committed to elevating them to $10 billion in the initial phase."

The President of our nation, reflecting on the extensive border shared by Iran and Pakistan, remarked: "We view the lengthy border between our countries as a potential asset, capable of fostering prosperity for both nations, particularly benefiting the border guards of each side."

Ayatollah Raisi stressed: "During our brief journey with the Prime Minister of Pakistan to the border region, we observed the activity and commerce in the border markets, signaling potential for expansion. However, these measures alone are insufficient; further efforts are needed to enhance the welfare and security of both nations."

Regarding the harsh sanctions imposed on the Iranian populace, he underscored: "Despite facing unjust sanctions, the resilient Iranian people have transformed these challenges into opportunities, leveraging them for the nation's progress."

In this ceremony, Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, welcomed Iran’s President in Persian during a press conference and stated: "I would like to thank my esteemed brother, Mr. Raisi, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, for his gracious visit to Pakistan, which has brought new insights."

He remarked: Valuable discussions took place between our delegation and the Iranian President and his accompanying team; our diplomatic ties span 76 years, with Iran being the first nation to formally acknowledge us in 1947.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan elaborated: We are committed to fostering bilateral collaboration with Iran across economic, investment, and energy sectors.

Sharif elaborated further: Both nations voiced concern over the tragic events in Gaza, jointly condemning the Zionist regime and calling on global powers to swiftly halt military actions. A just, comprehensive, and enduring resolution to the Palestinian crisis is imperative. Pakistan's support for Palestine is unconditional, and we pledge to stand by Iran until the establishment of a Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital.

He added: I express gratitude to Ayatollah Khamenei, Iran's respected leader, for his solidarity with the Kashmiri people's quest for freedom. Mr. President, your legal expertise is recognized; we will collaborate to enhance the well-being of our citizens by adhering to principles that promote their advancement.
