What’s Agenda of Iranian FM’s Persian Gulf Tour?

Alwaght- Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-abdollahian is scheduled to visit Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates as part of a regional tour that began on Tuesday with visits to Qatar and Oman.

He is slated to visit Kuwait later on Wednesday, according to a report by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA). 

Heading a political delegation, Amir-abdollahian has held talks with senior officials of Qatar and Oman to discuss issues of mutual interest. 

The tour of Persian Gulf states comes as the region is seeing a progress in de-escalation efforts started in March by Tehran and Riyadh, which signed a détente agreement that ended five years of tensions. 

In Muscat, Amir-Abdollahian discussed bilateral ties and also progress of the agreements signed between the two countries during visits of senior officials. 

The top diplomat is expected to discuss deeper ties with Kuwait and a the UAE, as Iran's biggest regional trade partner.
