Iran Strongly Condemns Tirana Embassy Search

Iran Strongly Condemns Tirana Embassy Search

Alwaght- Iran's Permanent Mission to the United Nations condemned, in a letter addressed to the Permanent Mission of Albania to the UN, the violent measures, including unauthorized search, taken by the Albanian government against the diplomatic and consular sites belonging to Iran in capital Tirana.

The letter, a copy of which was also sent to the UN chief Antonio Guterres, stated that Iran "strongly condemns all violent measures against its diplomatic and consular facilities in Tirana on September 8 by the Albanian police forces without permission from the competent Iranian authorities.

" These violations were committed after the unilateral severance of diplomatic relations with Iran by the Albanian government on September 7, which was based on unfounded and politically motivated allegations and categorically rejected by the Islamic Republic of Iran," the letter read.

The letter added: "The Islamic Republic of Iran calls on the Albanian government to seriously abide by and implement all principles and rules of international law governing diplomatic and consular relations in accordance with the 1961 and 1963 Vienna treaties and United Nations General Assembly resolutions including those relating to non-interference, immunity, and in particular, the protection, security, and safety of diplomatic and consular sites."

The Albanian government unilaterally cut off its relations with Iran on Wednesday and gave Iranian diplomats 24 hours to leave the country for alleged cyber attacks originating from Iran targeting its infrastructure.

Iran categorically rejected the accusations, suggesting that the decision was driven by Western influence and in support of Mujahideen Khalgh Organization (MKO), an anti-Iranian terrorist organization based in Albania.
