Ansarullah Holds Talks with Iran on Yemen Political Solution, Aid Delivery

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif (R) meets with Yemeni Houthi Ansarullah movement’s spokesman, Mohammad Abdulsalam, in Tehran on February 10, 2018

Yemen’s Ansarullah movement officials have met high ranking Iranian officials in Tehran to discuss a political solution to the conflict in the Arab state

Alwaght- Yemen’s Ansarullah movement officials have met high-ranking Iranian officials in Tehran to discuss a political solution to the conflict in the war-torn Arab state and urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to the needy.

On Monday, Hossein Jaberi Ansari, the Iranian foreign minister's special assistant for political affairs, met with Mohammad Abdulsalam, the Ansarullah movement’s spokesperson, in the capital

The two also explored ways of providing aid to the people of Yemen, which has been under attack by Saudi Arabia and a coalition of its allies since March 2015.

They also discussed efforts to find a political solution to the conflict among Yemeni political groups.

Abdulsalam arrived in the Iranian capital on Saturday and held talks Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

He presented the Iranian top diplomat with a report on the state of affairs in Yemen.

Zarif pointed to a four-step solution he had proposed earlier last week to solve the crisis, underlined the need for an urgent end to the bombardment and concomitant Saudi-imposed siege of Yemen, and facilitation of transfer to the country of direly-needed aid supplies.

Nearly 14,000 Yemenis, mostly women, children and the elderly, have been killed since the onset of Saudi Arabia’s military campaign against the impoverished state. Much of the Arabian Peninsula country's infrastructure, including hospitals, schools and factories, has been reduced to rubble due to the war. The Saudi-led war has also triggered a deadly cholera epidemic and famine across Yemen.
