ISIS Ringleader Al Baghdadi Probably Hiding in Syria: Report

Alwaght- Reports indicate that ISIS terrorist group ringleader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi may be holed up at a terrorist-held pocket in Syria's eastern province of Deir ez-Zor.

According to a Friday statement the media bureau of Syria’s Operations Command Center, al-Baghdadi might be hiding in the city of al-Bukamal, which lies on the Euphrates River and the border with Iraq.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, and Omar Abu Laila, a Europe-based opposition activist, however, denied the report that al-Baghdadi is in al-Bukamal.

On Wednesday, Syrian forces assisted by Lebanon’s Hezbollah fighters fully liberated al-Bukamal, the last major ISIS-held town in Syria.

There have been conflicting report on the whereabouts of al-Baghdadi over the last few months as ISIS continue loosing territories it occupied in Syria and Iraq including the key cities of Mosul and Raqqah.

Baghdadi announced the forming of the group's so-called caliphate at Grand al-Nuri Mosque in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul back in 2014. The city was liberated by Iraqi forces, July this year.

In June 22 Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov was quoted by Sputnik news as saying, there was a "high probability" that al-Baghdadi had been killed in a Russian airstrike on the southern outskirts of the northeastern Syrian city of Raqqah, about 160 kilometers (99 miles) east of Aleppo, in late May.
