Alwaght- A booby trap planted by ISIS in a house in Iraq killed at least 18 Iraqis when soldiers were trying to cleanse the house on Sunday, DPA news agency reported.

The bomb went off when soldiers tried to enter a house, previously held by ISIS terrorists, in al-Awsajah Village in the district of Qayyarah south of Mosul.

10 soldiers and at least 8 civilians were killed by the explosion, Brigadier-General Mohammed al-Jabouri said adding that four people were also injured.

Iraqi army has initiated an operation to liberate Mosul, occupied by ISIS since 2014. The city is considered the terrorist group’s main stronghold in Iraq.

Army planes also dropped leaflets on the cities of al-Sharqat and al-Zawya in the province of Salahuddin warning them to either leave the cities or stay away from terrorist position which will be army targets in coming days.
