ALWAGHT- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi in Geneva, Switzerland.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry said Abbas Araghchi and Rafael Grossi discussed technical issues related to Iran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, including safeguards and relevant Iranian parliamentary legislation. Iran’s technical positions regarding its indirect negotiations with the United States were also reviewed.
The meeting took place ahead of a second round of indirect Iran–US talks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, scheduled for Tuesday, with Oman continuing its intermediary role. Grossi described the Geneva talks as “in-depth technical discussions” held in preparation for the upcoming negotiations, while Araghchi said he arrived with concrete proposals and rejected any pressure-based concessions.
The talks follow earlier negotiations in Muscat led by Araghchi and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, as regional tensions remain high amid increased US military deployments ordered by President Donald Trump. Iran has reiterated that any agreement must result in effective sanctions relief, while anti-war groups warn that renewed confrontation would be devastating, recalling the 12-day conflict of June 2025.
