ALWAGHT- The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has reported that a child is killed every hour in the Gaza Strip.
"Every hour, a child is killed. These aren't just numbers—they represent lives cut short. The killing of children is indefensible. Those who survive are left with both physical and emotional scars," the UNRWA stated in a message on its X account Tuesday. The organization, which has had its activities banned by the Knesset in the occupied Palestinian territories, continued, "Deprived of education, children in Gaza sift through the rubble. The clock is ticking for them as they lose not only their lives but their futures and hope."
According to a report by The Guardian, the death toll of Palestinian children killed since the start of Israel’s aggression against Gaza has reached 14,500. The report also noted that by early December 2024, the death toll from Israeli airstrikes in Gaza had surpassed 44,000, with the UN Human Rights Office estimating that 44% of verified fatalities were children.
The report further revealed that around 1.9 million residents of Gaza, nearly 90% of the population, have been displaced multiple times due to the conflict, with about half of those displaced being children.
