ALWAGHT- Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has called for a death sentence for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following the ICC's issuance of an arrest warrant against him amid the regime's ongoing genocide in Gaza and atrocities in Lebanon.
“The ICC arrest warrant is insufficient; Netanyahu must be sentenced to death,” Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei stated on Monday during a meeting with members of the Iranian Basij volunteer force, held in honor of Basij Week.
The International Criminal Court (ICC), based in The Hague, has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his ousted war minister Yoav Gallant, citing their involvement in war crimes amid the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Both face the risk of arrest if they enter any of the 124 countries that are signatories to the Rome Statute.
Commenting on Israel's aggression in Gaza and Lebanon, Ayatollah Khamenei condemned the bombing of residential areas, calling it a crime rather than a victory. He emphasized that Israel has failed in its conflicts with Gaza and Lebanon and will continue to do so. The Leader praised the Basij force as a counter to hegemonic powers attempting to undermine national beliefs, asserting that Basij embodies resistance against such manipulation.
Ayatollah Khamenei underscored the importance of strengthening and expanding Basij, highlighting its role in foiling enemies' plans, including sabotaging a US plot involving uranium enrichment 15 years ago. He credited Basij members for producing 20 percent enriched uranium domestically, defying American expectations. The Leader also emphasized Basij’s mission to dismantle the Zionist regime and counter US strategies aimed at fostering submission or chaos in the region.
