Iran’s Foreign Minister and the head of Hamas Council discuss regional developments in Istanbul

ALWAGHT- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Hamas Shura Council Head Mohammed Ismail Darwish met in Istanbul to discuss regional developments.

The meeting occurred while Araghchi was in Istanbul to attend a foreign ministerial gathering of the regional cooperation mechanism for the Caucasus, known as 3+3.

Araghchi and Darwish also discussed the ongoing crisis in the Gaza Strip. Earlier that day, the Iranian foreign minister met with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan.

The Shura Council is a consultative body responsible for electing Hamas's Politburo and consists of members from four regional shuras elected by Hamas members in Gaza, the West Bank, the diaspora, and prisoners in Israeli jails. These regional shuras appoint local leaderships for each area.
