Iran’s Foreign Minister Engages in ’Constructive’ Discussions with Saudi Counterpart

ALWAGHT- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held productive talks with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan in Riyadh.

“Both parties urged an immediate halt to hostilities in Gaza and Lebanon and called for the swift delivery of humanitarian aid to those displaced,” stated Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei in a post on X.

“The two ministers also discussed the current state of bilateral relations and reiterated their shared commitment to enhancing cooperation across various political, security, and economic domains.”

Foreign Minister Araghchi arrived in Riyadh on Wednesday to discuss ways to end Israel's violent campaign in Gaza and its ongoing bombardment of Lebanon.

Additionally, the Iranian foreign minister met with Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman during this visit. This trip to Riyadh follows Iran's missile strike on Israeli-occupied territory, which was a response to the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas in Tehran, Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah of Hezbollah, and Iranian military advisor General Abbas Nilforoushan in Beirut. In a statement made in Beirut on Friday, Araghchi expressed Tehran's support for efforts to achieve a "simultaneous" ceasefire in both Lebanon and Gaza.

Since October 2023, Israel has reportedly killed over 42,000 Palestinians in Gaza, while its bombardment of Lebanon has resulted in at least 2,000 fatalities. The Israeli regime claims it seeks to stop Hezbollah's solidarity operations with Gaza, which have targeted northern occupied territories for the past year. However, Hezbollah has pledged to continue its attacks until the genocide in Gaza ceases.
