North Korea vehemently denounces the US nuclear strategic plan

ALWAGHT- North Korea voiced serious concerns and strongly condemned a revised nuclear strategic plan approved by US President Joe Biden earlier this year.

“The DPRK will continue to strengthen its strategic capabilities in all ways to address and neutralize any security threats arising from the US's dangerous nuclear posture adjustments, and will firmly counter any nuclear threats,” North Korea's foreign ministry stated, using the country’s official name.

The ministry further emphasized, “Efforts by other sovereign states to enhance their defense capabilities in response to the growing nuclear threat from the US cannot be used as an excuse for the US to expand its nuclear arsenal or engage in provocative nuclear posture coordination.”

“No matter how the US may exaggerate the 'nuclear threat' from other countries, the DPRK will proceed with developing a reliable and sufficient nuclear force to protect the country’s sovereignty and security interests according to its established timeline,” it added.

The White House clarified on Tuesday that the revised nuclear strategic plan is not aimed at any specific country or threat, following a New York Times report that the strategy now emphasizes China's expanding nuclear arsenal for the first time.

China's foreign ministry expressed serious concern on Wednesday over the report, which indicated that the US plan also aims to prepare for potential coordinated nuclear challenges from China, Russia, and North Korea.
