ALWAGHT- The Iranian parliament (Majlis) has concluded its debate on the nominees for the new cabinet, approving all 19 of President Masoud Pezeshkian's selections.
In a session on Wednesday, following four days of intense deliberations and hearings, lawmakers approved all 19 ministers proposed by the new president.
Pezeshkian submitted his list of ministerial candidates to the parliament for a vote of confidence on August 11, 12 days after his swearing-in ceremony.
Lawmakers convened on Saturday to assess the qualifications and programs of the ministerial nominees, with the discussions continuing until Wednesday before the final vote.
Among the approved nominees is Abbas Aragchi, who will succeed Hossein Amir-Abdollahian as the Islamic Republic of Iran's new foreign minister.
Prior to the vote on Wednesday, President Pezeshkian addressed the parliament, urging them to endorse his ministerial picks and calling for "unity and cohesion."
Following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the life of President Ebrahim Raeisi on May 19, Pezeshkian emerged as one of six final candidates chosen by the Constitutional Council from a pool of 80 presidential hopefuls.
He secured the most votes in the first round of the presidential election on June 28 and went head-to-head with runner-up Saeed Jalili in the July 5 runoff.
The physician-turned-politician from Tabriz, in northern Iran, and former health minister, won the runoff with 53.66 percent of the total votes cast.
