ALWAGHT- The Iranian Intelligence Ministry has arrested one of the key figures responsible for a terrorist attack that killed nearly 100 people in the southern city of Kerman on January 3.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Intelligence Ministry highlighted its significant achievements in recent months.
The ministry reported that its forces had captured Abdullah Quetta and brought him to Iran, identifying him as one of the primary orchestrators of the deadly terrorist attack in Kerman in early January.
The statement highlighted that intelligence gathered from the captured individual helped Iran prevent several other Takfiri terrorist plots and identify numerous key figures among terrorists and their hideouts.
It also detailed increased terrorist efforts to disrupt Iran's recent presidential election, with the Intelligence Ministry's counterterrorism department encountering 79 terrorist cells from May 21 to July 5 alone.
According to the statement, numerous terrorists, their supporters, and suppliers of weapons and ammunition have been apprehended, resulting in the seizure of 560 assault rifles, approximately 42,000 bullets, nine bombs, and significant bomb-making materials.
Furthermore, the intelligence forces have apprehended individuals who recently entered Iran for terrorist activities, along with others with criminal backgrounds assigned to carry out suicide missions. The terrorists primarily targeted provinces such as Tehran, Alborz, Qazvin, Khorasan Razavi, Fars, Sistan and Balouchestan, Hormozgan, and Bushehr for their attacks.
