ALWAGHT- Iranian musician and filmmaker Bashir Beeazaar has been released after being unlawfully detained in France for a month, an official announced.
The head of public relations for the Iranian presidential office announced on his X account on Wednesday that Bashir Beeazaar, who had been illegally detained in France for a few weeks on false charges, has been released and is being deported.
Beeazaar, a former production manager at the Music and Song Department of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), was summoned and detained by French police in June. He has been an outspoken supporter of the Palestinian cause and has used social media to highlight Israeli actions in Gaza.
His social media content consistently focuses on cultural issues related to the Muslim world and the Palestinian cause, which French authorities have cited as a pretext for his arrest and potential deportation.
The French interior ministry accused Beeazaar of distributing alleged Iranian "state propaganda" and promoting “anti-Zionism and anti-Americanism,” which they view as "political-religious interference."
