ALWAGHT- The Constitutional Council of Iran has started vetting individuals who have submitted their candidacy applications for the upcoming presidential election.
Speaking to state TV, the spokesperson for the Constitutional Council announced that the vetting process began on Tuesday morning and will continue for five days.
The registration for the 14th round of Iran’s presidential election started on May 30 and concluded on June 3.
Hundreds of individuals applied for candidacy during this period, but only 80, including four women, met the eligibility criteria to register.
All applicants are being thoroughly vetted by the Constitutional Council, which will release the final list of candidates on June 11.
The applicants include 38 former members of Parliament, 3 current ministers, 13 former ministers, the current Parliament speaker, and a former president.
