ALWAGHT- On Sunday, Dan Halutz, the former Chief of General Staff of the Israeli military, acknowledged that even if the regime were to destroy the entire Gaza Strip, victory would remain elusive.
Israeli soldiers are losing their lives in Gaza and the northern region without purpose, as this war lacks any clear objective. Even if Gaza were completely destroyed, we wouldn't be able to claim victory, as stated by Halutz in remarks reported by the Palestinian Sama news agency.
He emphasized that history will only remember our defeat after the events of October 7th. He stressed the importance of prioritizing the release of the 132 hostages still held in Gaza, as demanded by Hamas.
Aviv Kohavi, a former chief of the general staff of the Israeli government, has acknowledged that halting the war is the only way to secure the release of the captives from Gaza. He stressed that obtaining the return of the "hostages" is equivalent with ceasing the conflict.
Similarly, former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert previously stated on an Arabic channel that military actions alone would not result in the release of the hostages. Olmert added that efforts are being made to dissuade Benjamin Netanyahu's cabinet from making decisions that are contrary to Israel's interests.
