In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia announced that the Foreign Minister of the nation will support Palestine's complete membership in the United Nations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia has underscored in an official statement that the country's Foreign Minister, Mohamad Hasan, will express support for Palestine's full membership in this international organization during the ongoing session of the United Nations in New York.
The proposal for Palestine's full membership requires the endorsement of the Security Council, which introduces the new proposed members for a vote in the General Assembly.
Wisma Putra, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, highlighted in a press release preceding Mohammad Hassan's New York visit: "Throughout this session, the Foreign Minister will advocate for an immediate ceasefire, oppose the forced displacements of Palestinians, and stress the critical importance of ensuring uninterrupted access to humanitarian aid for residents of Gaza."
Mohamad Hasan is set to participate in the meeting of the United Nations Security Council to discuss the Middle East situation, including the Palestinian issue. In another part of this statement, it is mentioned that Malaysia will demand accountability for flagrant violations of international laws by the Israeli regime in this session.
The statement also emphasizes that the Foreign Minister of Malaysia will express support for the official recognition and full membership of Palestine in the United Nations. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, this support includes efforts to underscore the legitimate rights of Palestinians for determining their future, national independence, and governance, from which they have continuously been deprived.
Furthermore, Malaysia's Foreign Minister will endorse the "two-state solution" proposal during this meeting. As per the statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, Mohamad Hasan is set to meet with António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, to articulate his support for requests ensuring the immediate, secure, uninterrupted, extensive, and continuous access of Gaza residents to humanitarian aid.
It is anticipated that Mohamad Hasan, leading the Malaysian delegation, will actively participate in the open session addressing the request for the assessment of legal consequences resulting from the Zionist regimes policies and actions in occupied Palestine at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. This session is scheduled for February 19th.
