Alwaght: Iran has marked National Day of Fight against British Colonialism, the day Rais-Ali Delvari— the national champion of anti-British colonialism fight— was killed fighting the British colonizers.
Delvari led a popular uprising against the British forces who invaded the country in 1915 in the port city of Bushehr south of the country and inflicted heavy defeats on them.
He was eventually killed by a British mercenary in the same year.
Honoring this national champion, Iran’s Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian released a statement in this regard. Here is its full text:
In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Brave people of Bushehr Province,
Dear brothers and sisters
First of all, I deem it necessary to wholeheartedly express my gratitude to the organizers of this important conference.
The anniversary of the martyrdom of Rais-Ali Delvari, on which this martyr is commemorated, is named National Day of Fight against British Colonialism, and is the right opportunity to get a more profound understanding of the occupying nature of some colonial powers over the past roughly 150 years.
The Supreme Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, Imam Khamenei, has made a comment honoring martyr Rais-Ali Delvari, which reads, “He is the Iranian nation’s Rais-Ali, although he belongs to Delvar. If people like Rais-Ali had not been martyred in exile, the Iranian nation wouldn’t enjoy the dignity it has today.”
Reflection on the statements and metaphors that the Leader used in his remarks to describe the lofty character of martyr Rais-Ali Delvari bears witness to the due regard paid to martyr Rais-Ali Delvari. The Leader’s invaluable and dignified description, calling ‘Rais-Ali Delvari, the hero of fighting British colonialism’ in praise of Delvari, promote him as a role model for the current generation in the country.
Probably, the most prominent features of this martyr in his struggles were his ability to identify the enemy, prudence, resistance and perseverance on the right path.
Undoubtedly, by understanding Britain’s behavior toward Iran and the Islamic Republic of Iran, one can easily find out the uprising by fighters in Tangestan led by Rais-Ali Delvari as a religiously prudent and patriotic hero who hoisted the flag of fighting the occupation of invading British forces in southern Iran, was extremely praiseworthy.
I am confident that his struggles will never be wiped off the minds and collective memory of the Iranian nations, and, of course, the brilliant path of this great martyr will be doggedly and vigorously pursued.
I hope highlighting the deeds of valor and hailing the sacrifices made by national heroes of this land, which is everyone’s responsibility, will further strengthen the determination of all of us and Iranians from all walks of life to keep moving on the path to national independence and progress.
In the end, I once again express my heartfelt gratitude to all organizers of this national conference.
Once again, I pay tribute to the lofty spirits of freedom and independence fighters, the martyrs who gave their lives to secure dignity, divine values, the dignity and progress of dear Iran, and martyr Qassem Soleimani in particular.
May God bless you all
