Alwaght- Israeli regime's forces fatally shot a Palestinian driver who in a car-ramming operation that seriously injured an Israeli occupation soldier.
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning at a checkpoint near the village of Bayt Sira in the occupied West Bank, Palestinian media reported.
According to security camera footage released by the Israeli army, the Palestinian driver exited his vehicle after hitting an Israeli soldier at the Maccabim checkpoint and then attempted to strike him with an axe.
The attacker was identified as Habes Abdul Hafeez Rayan, a 54-yr-old Palestinian.
He was shot dead immediately by the wounded soldier at the scene, according to Israel’s Channel 14.
The Israeli soldier was then taken to Shaare Zedek Hospital in occupied al-Quds in serious condition, the Hebrew media said.
Days earlier, Israeli forces killed another Palestinian following a car-ramming operation that left five settlers injured near the city of Jericho in the occupied West Bank.
Hours after the Sunday attack, the Palestinian Health Ministry identified the man as Barakat Moussa Odeh, 49, from the village of al-Ezariya, east of the occupied city of al-Quds. It added that Odeh succumbed to the wounds he sustained from Israeli gunfire near the Nabi Moussa junction, south of Jericho.
More than 150 Palestinians have so far been killed this year during the Israeli regime’s brutal crackdown on West Bank’s native residents.
On Saturday, four Israelis and a Palestinian were injured in a gun attack near an Israeli checkpoint in the occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil, also known as Hebron.
