Alwaght- ISIS has claimed responsibility for church attacks in the Philippines that killed and injured dozens of people, the terrorist group’s self-style news agency Amaq said on Sunday.
Two bombs at a Roman Catholic cathedral in on Jolo island have killed 20 people and wounded 111 people dozens more.
Police said the fatalities included 15 civilians and five troops. Among the wounded were 17 troops, two police, two coast guard and 90 civilians.
The first blast happened as Sunday Mass was being celebrated. A second device exploded outside as soldiers responded.
A statement from ISIS said the attack was carried out by "two knights of martyrdom" against a "crusader temple".
Jolo has long been a base for militants, including those of the Abu Sayyaf group. Several of its factions have declared allegiance to IS.
