Muslims Pan Australian PM for Possibly Recognizing Al-Quds as Israeli Capital

Potentials, Challenges ahead of Muslims’ Reaction to US Embassy Move to Al-Quds

Alwaght- Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad rebuked Australia’s decision to recognize West al-Quds (Jerusalem) as Israeli regime's capital.

Australia’s move followed US President Donald Trump’s move to relocate the US embassy to from Tel Aviv to al-Quds in May, which infuriated Palestinians and the wider Islamic world and upset Western allies.

“Al-Quds should remain as it is now and not the capital of Israel,” Mahathir told Reuters on the sidelines of an event in Bangkok.

“Al-Quds has always been under Palestine, so why are they taking the initiative to divide al-Quds not belonging to them, but to divide the Arabs and the Jews? They have no rights,” he added.

Palestinians have declared al-Quds as the capital of a future Palestinian independent state, and insist that its heritage should remain intact.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison reversed decades of West Asia policy by the country but said there are no immediate plans to move the Australian embassy from Tel Aviv.
