Alwaght- Syria has called on the UN Security Council acts to stop the war crimes committed by the US-led alliance against the Syrian people.
In a letter addressed on Tuesday to the UN Secretary-General and the head of the Security Council, Syrian Foreign Ministry asserted that the US-led alliance continues to persist in committing massacres against the Syrian people and supporting the remnants of ISIS terror group.
The Syrian Foreign ministry said that its latest letter follows up on tens of letters detailing the massacres committed by the US-led alliance against Syrians, the most recent dated February 21st.
The letter said that the US-led alliance committed two new massacres against Syrian civilians on Sunday February 25th, 2019, when its warplanes bombarded the homes of civilians in al-Shaafa and Dhahret Alouni villages in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor province, martyring 29 civilians and inflicting severe injuries on tens of others, most of them women and children, in addition to causing damage to civilians’ homes, properties, and infrastructure in the villages.
The Ministry said that the alliance’s persistence in committing countless massacres against the Syrian people, and its support for the remnants of ISIS and efforts to restructure them as separatist militias working for the US in Hasaka, Raqqa, and Deir Ez-zor provinces confirms that this rogue alliance’s only goal is to undermine Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity and to prolong the crisis in Syria.
“The Syrian Arab Republic demands that the Security Council shoulder its responsibility of preserving international peace and security and act immediately to stop the war crimes and the crimes against humanity committed by this alliance’s against the Syrian people and ensure that they do not reoccur,” the Ministry said.
The letter concluded by asserting that Syria demands ending the illegal presence of US forces on Syrian soil and preventing the US from implementing its suspicious plans that seek to divide Syria and plunder its resources, saying that this most recent crime and the crime of demolishing Raqqa city uncover the true face of the US administration’s policies, policies that must be condemned and exposed.
The US-led coalition has been conducting airstrikes against what are said to be ISIS targets inside Syria since September 2014 without any authorization from the Damascus government or a UN mandate.
