Alwaght- At least fifteen ISIS terrorist group loyalists have been killed during the ongoing Hamza military operations in eastern Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province.
According to the local officials, the terrorists were killed in Achin district during the clearance operations and airstrikes.
The provincial government media office in a statement said at least thirty ISIS terrorists were killed during the Hamza operations since Wednesday.
The statement further added that three more ISIS terrorists were also killed and five others were wounded during the Shaheen military operations in Ghani Khel district.
The provincial government also added that 700 hectares of land were also cleared of poppy during the ongoing campaign to eradicate opium cultivation in this province.
Nangarhar is among the relatively calm provinces in eastern Afghanistan but the anti-government armed militant groups and terrorists have recently increased their insurgency activities in some parts of the province during the recent years.
United Nations revealed in September 2015 that ISIS terrorist group is recruiting fighters in 25 of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces.
“The number of groups and individuals who are openly declaring either loyalty to or sympathy with ISIS continues to grow in a number of provinces in Afghanistan,” the report said.
There are increasing efforts by ISIS loyalists to expand presence in parts of southern and central Asia under the terror group’s so-called Khurasan province.
