Alwaght- Israeli regime forces have shot and killed three on Wednesday near the Damascus Gate in occupied East Al Quds (Jerusalem) Old City.
Israeli regime claims the three attackers were shot dead at the scene after carrying out an attack with knives and an automatic weapon.
Witnesses say Israeli regime forces fired stun grenades and pepper spray near the Salah al-Deen Street and Al-Sultan Suliman streets nearby the Damascus Gate to prevent Palestinians in the area from approaching the area.
Witnesses added the forces stopped a group of people and inspected them in “humiliating” ways.
Initial reports from social media suggested the three youth were from the village of Qabatiya near the northern occupied West Bank city of Jenin.
Israeli police were looking into the identity of the three.
A wave of attacks carried out by Palestinian individuals on Israeli Regime's military and civilians initially sparked in occupied East Al Quds in October before spreading to the West Bank.
Since early October 2015 when Palestinians started an uprising known as Intifada, nearly 170 Palestinians have been killed by Zionist settlers and Israeli forces. In the ongoing clashes at least 25 Zionists have been killed in revenge attacks by Palestinians.
The Third Palestinian Intifada commenced to protests imposed restrictions in August on the entry of Palestinian worshipers in to the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds.
The Intifada includes a wave of attacks against Zionists in retaliation of the Israeli repressive measures against the Palestinians across the West Bank and especially in al-Quds. Zionist settlers backed by occupation forces have also been repeatedly storming and desecrating the holy al-Aqsa Mosque, sparking Palestinian anger.
Early this week, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon once again censured the Israeli regime for its decades-long occupation of the Palestinian territories and illegal settlement construction on the occupied lands.
“History proves that people will always resist occupation,” Ban said in an opinion piece published on the website of The New York Times by the paper on Monday.
The UN chief denounced Tel Aviv’s plans to build over 150 new settlements and to confiscate 370 acres of agricultural land in the occupied West Bank.
“Israeli settlements keep expanding,” he wrote, adding, “At the same time, thousands of Palestinian homes in the West Bank risk demolition... Palestinian frustration and grievances are growing under the weight of nearly a half-century of occupation. Ignoring this won’t make it disappear,” he noted.
