Over 100 Palestinians in West Bank Detained Since Ramadan Began

ALWAGHT- The Palestinian Prisoners' Society reports that more than 100 Palestinians, including women, children, and former detainees, have been arrested in the West Bank since the start of Ramadan.

The Palestinian Prisoners' Society (PPS) reported that Israeli forces have detained over 100 Palestinians in the West Bank since the start of Ramadan, including women, children, and former prisoners. The detentions, occurring across most governorates with al-Quds heavily affected, are described as part of a deliberate campaign timed with the holy month, often involving raids at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

PPS highlighted that these arrests are part of a broader pattern of abuse, including beatings, property destruction, theft, and the use of detainees as human shields. Field interrogations reportedly involve severe mistreatment, and detention campaigns are criticized as a tool to advance settlement expansion and enforce a new territorial reality in the West Bank.

Since the October 2023 escalation in Gaza, around 22,000 Palestinians have been detained, with roughly 7,400 currently held in Israeli prisons, including 3,500 under administrative detention without trial. PPS stressed that these actions continue a decades-long policy of targeting Palestinians, with the current wave marked by increased scale and severity of violations both in the field and inside detention facilities.
