ALWAGHT- The leader of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), also known as Hashd al-Shaabi, has affirmed the group's steadfast loyalty to their brothers in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Faleh Al-Fayyad made these remarks during a ceremony in Iraq's northeastern Diyala province, commemorating the anniversary of retaking the town of Dhuluiya from the ISIS terror group in December 2014, according to Iraqi media reports on Saturday. Dhuluiya is situated in Salah ad-Din province.
Al-Fayyad emphasized the PMU's unwavering loyalty to their Iranian allies, particularly honoring Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, who played a pivotal role in defeating ISIS before being assassinated in a US drone strike in Iraq in January 2020.
He affirmed the PMU's full readiness to counter any potential threats and paid tribute to PMU Commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, who was martyred alongside General Soleimani in the same US drone attack ordered by then-President Donald Trump near Baghdad.
