ALWAGHT- A former commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has cautioned that Israel and its allies could target Iran and other West Asian nations if they succeed in their current conflict against Palestine and Lebanon.
Major General Mohsen Rezaei, a former chief of Iran's IRGC and current member of the Expediency Council, warned that Iran is central to the ongoing conflict in Gaza and Lebanon. Speaking on Tuesday, he described Gaza and Lebanon as defensive fronts for West Asian nations, cautioning that their collapse could embolden the enemy to target Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Iran.
Rezaei’s comments come amid Israel’s devastating assaults on Gaza and Lebanon, which have killed over 43,972 Palestinians—mostly women and children—and 3,544 Lebanese civilians. The attacks have received comprehensive support from the United States, including political, military, and intelligence backing.
Rezaei accused the US-backed Israeli regime of using the war to challenge Iran's regional presence and Islamic influence, stating that the conflict aims to either secure the region for Israel or the Islamic Republic. He labeled the war as a “fateful” effort by Israel to prevent regional elimination and by the US to prolong its dominance in West Asia.
Despite these threats, Rezaei affirmed Iran’s commitment to defending itself and strengthening the resistance front. He highlighted the extensive use of US and European technologies in Israel’s military campaign, calling it an unprecedented “terrorist war” marked by genocide and homicide rather than territorial occupation.
Rezaei emphasized the need for Iran's revolutionary forces to support Gaza and Lebanon, predicting growing global opposition to the atrocities. He concluded by warning that the war, rooted in terrorism, threatens Muslims and the broader Islamic world.
