ALWAGHT- Caretaker Foreign Minister of Iran, Ali Baqeri, stated that cooperation between Tehran and Moscow can prevent the Zionist regime's aggressive actions from threatening regional peace and stability.
In a telephone conversation on Thursday, Bagheri and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed the recent assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, describing it as a criminal act by the Zionist regime and a violation of Iran's territorial integrity and national security.
"The martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh marks a red line crossed by the Zionist regime, threatening both regional and international peace and stability. Consequently, the Islamic Republic of Iran will undoubtedly exercise its inherent and legitimate right to defend and safeguard its territorial integrity and national security," the Iranian diplomat said, according to the Foreign Ministry’s website.
Bagheri also expressed appreciation to Russia, as the current president of the United Nations Security Council, for supporting Iran's call for an extraordinary session of the council.
He criticized the United States and European countries for obstructing the condemnation of Haniyeh's assassination, adding, "The collaboration between Moscow and Tehran can prevent the aggressive actions of the Zionist regime from jeopardizing regional peace and stability."
Lavrov, in response, condemned the assassination of Haniyeh and the violation of Iran's national sovereignty and territorial integrity by the Israeli regime.
