ALWAGHT- The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran will reinforce the close and unbreakable ties between Iran and Palestine.

In a statement on Wednesday, Nasser Kanaani extended his condolences to the Palestinian nation, the Hamas movement, other Palestinian resistance groups, all resistance currents in the region, and the nations supporting the Palestinian cause over Haniyeh's martyrdom in Tehran.

He stated that Haniyeh, who dedicated his life to the noble struggle against the Zionist regime and the liberation of al-Quds, did not sacrifice his life in vain.

The spokesman emphasized that Haniyeh's martyrdom will strengthen the profound and unbreakable ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran, Palestine, and the broader resistance movement.

Kanaani noted that Iranian authorities are currently investigating the circumstances and details of the incident.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, the IRGC announced that Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed when their residence in Tehran was struck in an attack. The IRGC stated that the incident is under investigation, with findings to be released later in the day.
