Iran Captures 20 Terrorists, Including 2 ISIS Leaders

ALWAGHT- Iranian security forces have arrested 20 foreign terrorists, including two leaders of the Daesh (also known as ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group, according to Intelligence Minister Esmaeil Khatib.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Intelligence Minister Esmaeil Khatib revealed that his forces have captured 20 terrorists in 12 separate operations over the past few weeks.

The minister stated that most of the detainees had illegally crossed the border into Iran. He also noted that 12 of the 20 arrested had infiltrated the country with the intent to carry out terrorist operations.

Khatib added that two of those arrested were the leaders and so-called emirs of Daesh and Takfiri groups, linked to countries that are not even neighbors of Iran.

In April, Iranian security forces apprehended a senior member of the Daesh terror group, known as ‘Mohammad Zaker’ or “Ramesh," along with two accomplices. They were planning suicide operations in Iran during Eid al-Fitr.
