Iranian Navy Recovers Sunken Destroyer

ALWAGHT- The Iranian Navy's Sahand destroyer, which had sunk following an accident at a pier in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas, has been raised from the seabed.

The Sahand destroyer was raised from the seabed on Friday night, 13 days after capsizing and sinking.

Images indicate that the warship has not sustained significant damage, and its main systems and equipment remain intact.

The accident occurred on July 7 when Sahand was docked at a pier belonging to the Bandar Abbas maritime industries for repairs.

The Navy reported that Sahand lost its balance after taking on water in its tanks during the repair process.

The Sahand destroyer was commissioned into the Navy’s fleet in December 2018.

Equipped with anti-ship cruise missiles, a helicopter deck, and advanced electronic warfare systems, the destroyer boasts significant operational capabilities.
